BraWo Marathi Mandal e.V., in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Hamburg, organised the celebration of Diwali Festival on 25th October 2025 in the Roter Saal in Braunschweig, following all safety measures and hall regulations – especially only electric Diyas were used.
Overall this Diwali Festival was organized and celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. To ensure safety, the hall was beautifully decorated with electric diyas instead of traditional ones, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. A special photobooth with Diwali-themed props was also arranged, allowing guests to capture memorable moments with thier loved ones.
Doors were opened at around 16:00 hrs. The program started with a short welcome in the reception area with traditional Diwali delicacies (Faral) at 16:30 hrs reminding everyone of the celebrations back in India. For this program desipass.com was our ticketing partner. At 16:45h the program began with formal Vidyut Deep Prajwalan by Dr. Amritlal Sawal & Mrs. Karin Sawla followed by the moderated cultural
performances.
Small kids entertained the audience with delightful singing and dancing performances. The highlight of the evening was a skit presented by the Marathi Shala, which received much appreciation.
The young generation showcased their talent through energetic music and dance performances that impressed everyone present.
Very interesting was the short presentation by Abhigya to showcase the historical background of Diwali Festival linked to Lord Rama.
Despite a busy schedule, Consul Mr Joydip Roy and Mrs Roy attended the event and addressed the community on behalf of the Consulate General of India, Hamburg. Their presence and address, which celebrated the joyous spirit of Diwali, made it a memorable occasion for the Indian community.
On the occasion of 750th Birth Anniversary of Sant Dnyaneshwar, his prayer “Pasaydaan” for the world peace was sung to conclude the cultural program.
Ms Mallika Khamkar thanked all those present, as well as the volunteers who helped organise this successful event. The event concluded with a delicious Indian dinner, which included authentic dishes and refreshing mango lassi.
Overall, the Diwali Festival was a grand success. Everyone enjoyed the vibrant yet warm atmosphere, colourful decorations, cultural performances, and the joyful spirit of Diwali, making it a memorable celebration for the entire Indian community.
