Braunschweig International 2024

BraWo Marathi Mandal e.V. proudly participated in the Braunschweig International Festival on 1st Jun 2024 at Kohlmarkt, Braunschweig representing India.

Nearly 30 organizations participated in this event representing various countries. This is the third year that the “BraWo Marathi Mandal” from Braunschweig has participated in this event. The entire program began with a traditional Marathi Dhol-Tasha-Lezim troupe. The Lezim performance started with the chants of “Ganapati Bappa Morya” accompanied by the beats of Dhol-Tasha, which drew an increasing crowd of spectators.

An integral part of Indian culture is Indian cuisine. Alongside the food stalls of other countries, the BraWo Marathi Mandal also had a food stall. There was a variety of dishes including Dosa, Vada Pav, Dabeli, Pani Puri, and many other delicacies, along with popular drinks like Mango Lassi and Aam Panna. Not only did Indian people enjoy these dishes, but the spectators also relished them, keeping the food stall busy from morning till evening.
In the afternoon segment, renowned singer from Pune, Mrs. Anjali Malkar, showcased many facets of Indian music. She was accompanied by Mr. Abhiram Bhave on the Tabla and Mr. Atharva Vaishampayan on the flute. Anjali Tai presented various ragas as well as Tarana and Abhang, giving the audience a glimpse of classical Indian music.

The program concluded with Indian dance. Women’s troupe from BraWo Marathi Mandal performed Indian dances, making the audience tap their feet to the Indian music. Garba was performed in three different styles, adding vibrant colors to the event’s conclusion. The huge number of spectators got a taste of Indian culture and witnessed the unity in diversity of India. The BraWo Marathi Mandal is proud to have represented India by showcasing the various aspects of their culture at such a grand event in the city.

At BraWo Marathi Mandal a big team of around 45 persons worked on various leads – Stall Keeping, Stage Performances, Opening Dhol-Tashe-Lezim & various volunteering activities in representing India at Braunschweig International. Stall Keepers were not only there for the whole day but also fulfilled the certifications needed for the public event like this. In the evening there was a refreshment dinner arranged by Mandal at Haus der Kulturen where all the performers, lead volunteers and orgnisers gethered to celebrate the success.

We want to Thank also the Stadt Braunschweig for stage performances partnership and continuous support through the event like availability of Roter Saal for the practice and preparations of the dances – these performances evently managed to bring the peak excitement at the event!
